Sustainability

Overview

NexGold is committed to development of all its assets with recognition of the unique needs of communities. We are in the process of developing policies and principles related to sustainable development for our mining projects including the Goliath Gold Complex. These policies and principles will be based on ethical business practices and good corporate governance, health, safety and environmental performance, contributions to social and economic development of local communities and effective and transparent engagement with Indigenous and public stakeholders.

NexGold supports the Mining Association of Canada’s Towards Sustainable Mining commitment (see https://mining.ca) and the PDAC Framework for Responsible Mining (see www.pdac.ca). Within that framework, the World Council for Sustainable Development states, “Corporate social responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and to contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.” NexGold works in a number of areas to achieve these goals. Early on, the Company adopted a “hire locally, purchase locally” philosophy. We have had great success to date in hiring local people and purchasing goods and services from over 70 area businesses.

Health and Safety

NexGold is committed to protecting the health and safety of all employees. Safety is a core value and our highest priority in all activities we undertake. Our commitment is based on caring for our employees. We will work diligently to ensure safe working conditions, equipment and work sites. We recognize and will continue to support employee involvement in identifying, preventing and eliminating hazards and risks to injury.

Community

The continued enhancement of the sustainable development of all respective regional communities is paramount to the development of all NexGold assets. NexGold continues to support regional causes and initiatives which align with these principles and the area in which we operate. We consult with our community stakeholders, and provide site visits and tours.

Indigenous Engagement

NexGold is committed to working with proximate Indigenous communities to respect their traditional, cultural, and land use values within the design parameters of the Goliath Gold Project. We will engage openly and transparently to maximize Indigenous participation in the Project for mutual benefit.  NexGold is focused on building long-term relationships with Indigenous people and communities through continued knowledge sharing, dialogue, and cooperation.
